About Deborah L. Shapiro, Ph.D.
I opened my practice in 2004 after completing a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in the Trauma Disorders Program at Sheppard Pratt Hospital. I continue to specialize in the treatment of complex posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and dissociative disorders. In addition to trauma, common concerns my clients often have include:
- relationship difficulties
I use a variety of therapy techniques to help people better manage their symptoms and work through the ways past experiences continue to hinder their well-being. Therapy is a collaborative process, in which we work together to identify the changes you wish to make and what is keeping you from making them. I primarily work with individuals, but do at times include family members when it is appropriate.
I received a B.S. in psychology from Penn State University and completed my doctorate at Michigan State University.
I am a member of the following organizations:
- International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (www.isst-d.org)
